yuck.

Our things came early Sunday morning! I couldn't be happier.....BUT, it's quite the mess at my house. This is what I have been dealing with all week long. The kitchen, living room, and dining room, are all clean by now. The art room is the worst. The bedroom is almost done.

Tomorrow night is the Marine Corps ball. Hopefully I'll post some photos during the weekend of that!

Lollishops Design Team, project #2

Yay, November is here! What does this mean in my life? I get to travel to Florida to meet my new nephew soon, I turn 24!, and I get to post my design team project. :)

The 1st of each month, for three months, I am showcasing my Lollishops Design team project. If you'd like to see my last one, click here. Or read up on what the Design Team is about here.

Lollishops design team kit sponsor this month was - Chocolate Letters.

The kit I received in the mail included lots of vintage Christmas themed bits and bobs. I loved it. For some reason I have had the itch to decorate for Christmas way early...but I haven't given in quite yet. I figure all of my ornament making, and this project, would hold me down for a while.
Last Christmas I made a banner that read "Merry Christmas". I thought all of these vintage pieces would look great as a banner. So I used all of the different ribbons and made one! My favorite had to of been the dark green pom pon trim.

I loved this little Santa head.

If you click on the whole banner image, you will get a bigger version of the photo.

Who doesn't love a nice festive banner?

Each little triangle is different and makes it unique. The bottom banner measures about 5 feet long, I would say the top on measures 3 feet. That is an estimate.

My husband wants to keep this banner. Haha. But since we already have one, I am going to give this one away at the beginning of December with my winter giveaway.

Check out the Lollishops Blog to see the other 4 design team projects, and what they did with their kits!

Happy Halloween!

Just a quick hello to say Happy Halloween! Pumpkin carving was a blast last night...I ended up carving two, but this one is my favorite.

Make sure to check back tomorrow for my second design team project for Lollishops! It's a Christmas themed one. :)

Happy Halloween everyone! I have a feel this weekend is going to be a really good one.

My sister had her baby thismorning! A little boy, weighing 5 lbs 11oz. I can't wait to make it to Florida in mid November to meet him.

Tonight we have guests coming over to carve pumpkins. :) Tomorrow we are going to a Halloween party...I will be dressing up as Peggy Bundy!

I don't have any pictures to share, but if you want to read a really cute Halloween-esque story, check out Cakies. Very cute.

Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend!

monday monday

I really don't have anything significant to post or say today. The weekend was rather uneventful, but in a good way. I bought a fancy dress for the Marine Corps ball that is in two weeks. It was on sale, and it's purple, so I was happy. Would you believe me if I told you it was the first dress I tried on? Shopping for dresses is more of a chore for me, so I wasn't looking forward to the trip...but, maybe 5 minutes after shopping, I was walking out the door with my dress.

I have quite a few things on my to-do list for the week, so I don't want to waste any of my time online really. I'll end this post with a link to Danni's blog where she is having a really lovely giveaway on her blog this week. So go stop by her blog and comment to win this pretty pillow.

These 5 ornaments have been added to the shop!

In the midst of all the cleaning and organizing madness, I am taking the day off. A friend and I are taking a spontanious road trip north. I have made mix cd's, and we are ready to brave the traffic. Have a lovely Thursday!

I feel like I've been neglecting the blog. Probably because I have been. I feel like I have been away from the computer a lot this week, and that's always a good thing. I just hate neglecting my readers. So, Sorry!

Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch. It was my very first pumpkin patch experience...and well, it could have been better. A lot of the pumpkins were about to rot because of the sun..and they had no shade. So, we didn't get any carving pumpkins..we just got a few for decoration on our balcony. We got a blue one! It's pretty neat looking.

I have been busy cleaning and reorganizing everything in the house. It's taking me a long time. I have the bedroom and bedroom closet finished. Right now I am tackling the art room closet. Tomorrow I'll get to the kitchen, and the last day I will re arrange the living room so we can fit 2 recliners in there with our couch. We don't have many storage closets here. Actually, we only have our bedroom and art room closets as storage. Thankfully, they're both big, but I don't know if they're big enough. Some of our things might end up on Craigslist or going to friends who might need or want anything.

While I was cleaning out the art room closet I pulled out our old computer and hooked it up. Last I used it, it wouldn't even start up. But for some unknown and holy reason, it started. This was a very happy thing...because, all of our wedding photos and really old photos were stored on this computer. So I got to copy all of my photos onto CD"s last night. I found this one, and it made me really homesick. Actually, looking at all of them made me homesick.

That scarf I was wearing could be used as a blanket, its so long and thick. It was one of my favorite scarves. I wont ever get to wear it out here, because it never gets that cold. I can remember that day really perfectly actually. It was early March, and we went to my favorite spot where I basically grew up at. East Harbor State Park, in Marblehead, Ohio...right on Lake Erie. My mom used to take us swimming there every summer, and when I got old enough to drive, it was a really nice place to take a walk in the forest or along the water. Lots of cookouts, hikes, and memories there.

That day in the photo was sometime in early March. It was freezing and windy. Probably one of the coldest days that winter. But I really wanted to go take photos for my mom's birthday. She lives in Florida, so I thought I would send her some photos of Ohio for her birthday. That was one of her favorite places too. Tim sat in the car with the heat on most of the time, but got out for a few shots. I remember not being able to feel if I was actually pushing down the button to take the picture, it was that cold.

Looking back now, I didn't realize that would be my last "real" winter in a long time. Or my last sunset on the Lake. Tim left a month after this picture was taken, for boot camp. At the time, after this photo was taken, I hated this picture of myself. But now, I love it. It's the memories that make this photo really special, and Tim looks pretty dang cute with a beard.

I honestly can't wait til his enlistment is over. Traveling, getting to live in all these different places, and meeting new people is great....but it just doesn't add up to home. Yeah....I'm having one of those days...looking at old pictures isn't healthy sometimes. But, who knows...in 3 or 4 years, if we move back to Ohio, I'll be looking at CA photos, getting all sad.
